SOOC stores the information needed to run your account and the photography community: your name, email address, profile details, uploads, series, comments, likes, saved items and follows. Account credentials and sessions are used to authenticate you.

What other people can see

Your public profile, published photographs and comments are visible to other visitors. Public series appear in the gallery. Unlisted series can be viewed by anyone with the link. Drafts and original downloads require access to the owning account.

Photographs and account data

Uploaded photographs are stored in object storage and processed into web images. Embedded metadata is removed from those web images; camera details you choose to display remain visible separately. Your originals may still contain metadata.

Hosting, storage and email services process information needed to provide the service, including account verification and password recovery messages. Essential session cookies keep you signed in. Security controls may process request information to prevent abuse.

Signing in with Google or Apple

If you choose a social sign-in provider, we receive the account identifier and the profile information you authorize, such as your name and email. We use these to create or connect your SOOC account. We do not receive your Google or Apple password. Provider tokens are encrypted in our database.

External recipe examples

Some recipe examples load from the credited creator’s website. Your browser contacts that website to display the image, which shares normal connection information such as your IP address. Attribution and a link to the source appear beside these examples.

Your controls

You can edit your profile, change a series’ visibility, remove your publications and manage your account in Settings. Deleting a series removes access to it; storage cleanup may complete later. Encrypted recovery copies of originals are retained for 30 days after deletion is recorded by the backup process. Scheduled cleanup or service interruptions can delay their final removal. Recovery copies are not publicly accessible. Database recovery snapshots expire according to their retention schedule. Copies already downloaded or shared by other people are outside these controls.
